What? The Main Points

-The King wanted to become richer, so he agreed to this system. The habitants would pay the seigneur, and the seigneur would pay aswell for the land. so, the king was making a lot of money this way.

 

- He picked a noble man to take care of this moneymaking land and brought habitants there to produce it

 

-They changed laws because of the british taking over (and later giving it back to France) and realizing the king's selfish ways and the prejudiced system that kept habitants working for less than they deserved, so eventually he gave in and abolished the seigneurial system from 1627-1854

 

- After the seigneurial system was abolished the citizens had more freedom than they did with the seigneurial system especially the habitants cause they still had the houses they rented

 

- Seigneurs were most likely a soldier or supporter before they were a seigneur which gave them the property which was for the contribution they made for the colony.
